Marès Lace Museum

The Marès de la Punta Museum will open with the security measures established by the health authorities relating to COVID-19. Morning hours are set, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.


Located in the old Sant Jaume Hospital (s. XVIII), since 1983 the Museum houses the collection of points donated by the Generalitat of Catalonia to the sculptor Frederic Marès.

The Marès Lace Museum is a space dedicated to textile art specialized in needlework, where practically all the techniques are represented: bobbin points, needlepoint, embroidery, techniques and styles from almost all of Europe and where they meet also objects and graphic documentation related to the tips.

Part of the local history collection is exposed in the old chapel, from the findings of the Iberian town of Tower of te Enchanted to the Civil War. It is in this space where the relationship of our city with the sea stands out, with a sample of the riverside carpenter tools that are part of the Museum’s collection, 19th century navigation utensils such as octants and sextants, some from students from the Arenys de Mar School of Pilots and images of the construction of the fishing port and the development of tourism linked to the beaches and the marina.

On the first floor you will find the space “The tactile gaze” that makes it more accessible to visually impaired people, a good opportunity to learn about the art of pillow tips.

The museum will open with the security measures established by the health authorities related to COVID-19.

Closing days: January 1 and 6, Good Friday, July 9, August 16, December 24, 25, 26 and 31.
